"The Pony Club is a leading junior equestrian organization and is world-wide in 30 countries.  Here in the US there are over 600 clubs with more than 12,000 members.  We are unique because we equally emphasize horse education, riding, and community outreach.  Pony Club refers to the age of our riders and not the size of our horses."

Yorba Linda, CA has a thriving Pony Club.  We currently have around 12 youth members.  We try to keep our numbers between 10-15 so we can participate in more events. Our parents and members are very active and welcoming.

Not all of our members own horses but they receive a lot of exposure to horses. Some participate in the unmounted educational meetings only while most prefer both the unmounted and the mounted lessons. After a period of time, almost all members are matched up to a horse from our local horse community (if they do not own one). In many cases, our members have purchased horses after experiencing the thrill of our club.

As you are probably aware, owning horses is very expensive. We try very hard to keep the costs down. We are a non-profit dedicated to providing a program to any youth that has a desire to learn about horses (this includes riding). We have a lot of committed families that are willing to share horses for various situations.

Our goal for the youth in our program is not only that they learn about horses but also learn valuable life lessons like responsibility, leadership, empathy, and self-esteem. Feel free to come check us out on Monday, Tuesday, or Friday evenings.

"Royal Riders Pony Club supported me in my search for the perfect horse for my family.  We felt very prepared having spent a year learning all about horse behavior, health, feeding, care, exercising, saddling, and equipment care during the unmounted club meetings."

“Jimmy” Wofford is considered one of the most influential horsemen of all time. Perhaps even more impressive than his riding accomplishments (1968 and 1972 Olympics, 5-time US National Champion, and 2 wins at Rolex), is his coaching career; he has produced riders on nearly every USET Eventing team and has had at least one student on every US Olympic, World Championship, or Pan Am team since 1978.

The Answer is the "NO" Show. Real practice with NO unnecessary fees. $30 Round / $75 Stall includes shavings

No, you are welcome to join without owning a horse.  We'd love to have your child join us for unmounted meetings where they will spend time learning about horses while interacting with them.  There will be plenty of time for petting, brushing, and you're welcome to bring them carrots.
Currently we have kids as young as 3rd grade all the way through college.  We are constantly amazed how age doesn't matter when there's a shared passion for horses.

New members and children under 12 require an adult present at our meetings.
Occasionally horses in the area become available for lease.  When we hear of one becoming available we let our members know.

A typical horse lease is approximately $25 a ride.  This varies by experience level of the horse and rider.  Each lease is worked out with the Owner of the horse and not Pony Club.
What is the price of joy on your child's face?  Here's an estimate:

  • National Pony Club membership / annually $110-$130
  • Regional Pony Club membership / annually $40
  • Royal Riders Dues / monthly $15
  • Lessons (1x per week) / monthly $80
We are so glad you are considering joining us.  Feel free to check out our website and send us your questions.
